Protecting Your Phone | Cell Tech

Something that is truly heartbreaking, is the moment when you drop your phone on a hard surface, you look down at your phone, whether its a Samsung Galaxy, a HTC or an iPhone and you say a silent prayer... 'Please, please, please don't be smashed.' Then you kneel down, pick up your phone and turn it over in your hand and there it is, it's happened, your screen on your £250+ phone is shattered, completely smashed and in need of a full screen replacement

One of the obvious ways to avoid screen damage is simply 'don't drop your phone' but we understand that in some cases, it is simply unavoidable and that it only takes one bad drop to completely ruin your screen. So a lot of the time, to avoid paying out on the cost of repairs, it's in your best interest to put some money into protecting your phone.

The number one most important thing to do once you have bought a new phone is to buy a hard wearing case for it. Now, by this I don't just mean something that looks good, when it comes to cases, the thicker the material, the better.

Although it may appear to be the most protective, hard plastic cases are not usually your friend, if the case is risen sightly further out from the screen, this is going to help against your screen shattering, yes. However, something that these types of cases cannot protect against is shock damage, which may not be the most common form of damage to your phone, it can be the most expensive and take the longest to repair, Shock damage from dropping your phone affects the whole internal system and symptoms don't appear right away.

The best cases you can buy are those made out of rubber, the 'life proof' plastic/rubber cases do tend to cost more, but they are guaranteed to protect your phone, the clue is in the title. It may be frightening at first, dropping your phone and watching it bounce across the room in it's rubber case, but I assure you, this is doing far less damage to your phone.

The number one way to protect your screen is an obvious one, buy a screen protector. But not a sticky piece of plastic which is going to do nothing more than hold glass together within your screen does smash. Spend more on protection, spend less on repairs. Put some money into a glass screen protector. You can ask anyone who's had one, they do work. Spending around £10 on a glass screen protector can save you a lot more on getting the glass repaired. You drop your phone, the glass breaks and you simply peel away the protector to reveal your screen underneath, good as new.
