Useful Information about Sodium Aluminate

Universal Chemicals have been established for 25 years, in this time they have developed their understanding and research skills to manufacture Sodium Aluminate solutions that is an iron free and stable. Below we have listed what Sodium Aluminate is used for, how to store it and some first aid advice should you come into contact with the solution.

- Sodium Aluminate is used for many different applications:

 Water:
            1) For the removal of disolved silica and phosphates
            2) As a supplement to water softening systems
            3) To improve flocculation

Other
            1) To improve and speed up the solidification of concrete
            2) Fire brick construction
            3) In the production of Zeolites
            4) Papermaking

Storage of Sodium Aluminate
  • Store at normal atmosphere temperatures.
  • In UK heating of tanks is not found necessary and is undesirable above 25ÂșC as the deposition of an alumina hydrate may occur.
First Aid Measures:

  • Eye Contact: Immediate treatment is essential. Irrigate with eye wash solution or clean water for at least 10 minuets ensuring the water reaches all corners and both eye lids.
  • Skin Contact: Drench the affected area with copious quantities of water. Remove contaminated clothing and continue treatment for no less than 15 minutes.
  • Inhalation: Remove to fresh air. Keep patient warm and administer oxygen if necessary.
