Sewage Anti-Overlow Systems | Flood Guard UK

In the last 10 years the British whether has been unpredictable and uncertain with the flash floods of areas down south. Flood Guard Uk aims to help people to prepare and have protection against floods both on a commercial and domestic level, thus to ensure the safety of the property. From flood proof doors to sewage anti flow systems they have many measures to prevent flooding to stop flooding from damaging your home through many different types of protection. Based in Wigan they can cater to a range of areas across the Northwest such as Warrington, Widnes, Liverpool and many other areas that they can cater too.

Fitting Drainage Non-Return ValvesData from the insurance industry would suggest that nearly fifty per cent of all flood claims are due to back-filling of sewerage pipes and going into your home. This causes a property to be flooded with ‘foul’ water from the inside by flowing back via toilets, plug holes, waste pipes and other underground entry point. But the sewage anti flow system can prevent this from happening as it will collect or divert the water. Thus, this method can be highly effective in protecting your home from damage due to its advanced system and abilities to cope with large amounts of water at once.

Katie Melona : As an owner of a hotel that is located near a large river on a flood plain that is very prone to flooding, i wanted a system that would help to offer some protection against flooding. When a small flood occurred from the river this system was able to fully protect my establishment from damage in it's design alone, which is one reason it is so efficient as a product.''

Storm Desmond causes flood devastation in Cumbria

You've probably already seen the sad headlines regarding the damage that floods have been causing to homes over the past few days - Storm Desmond has left thousands homeless and has claimed the lives of three people in the North of the UK and Scotland. Furthermore, 45,000 properties are without power as the region faced record levels of rising water levels that caused unforeseen damage. Areas in Cumbria that were effected includes, Kendal, Cockermouth, Carlisle, Keswick and Appleby - 999 calls understandably doubled during the worst of the floods as people called for assistance for what's being called by some as 'the worst floods in nearly 50 years'.

Some blame has been placed upon the government after it was revealed that there were 300 planned flood defence schemes scrapped after being deemed 'low priority'. Although defences has been put in place in 2009 in Keswick for instance, their 15 ft height was not enough to stop the water rising when it reached 17ft. The army was even deployed in order to help those who were in trapped areas.

Jeremy Corybyn released a statement on Facebook in which he promised to look into what went wrong with regards to the resources that could have been put in place.

Two-foot floods hit the UK

Last week the UK suffered from two foot floods as a result of heavy rainfall - this story was covered by several different newspapers as they reported that the heavy rainfall was caused by the superstorm jet stream from Hurricane Joaquin in the Bahamas. Many highways were seriously hit, causing travel chaos on the motorways as many lanes were completely flooded:

The weather even caused the Bradford football team to cancel their football match last week due to unplayable conditions. Many homes were damaged and even more were threatened by rainfall that was expected for the days following.

Many people are neglecting the installation of Flood Defence systems within their home; however for those in the know - these systems bring with it many more benefits than one might expects. Obviously you're protecting your precious possessions from the dangers the come with rising water levels but devices such as flood proof doors, waterproof wall coatings, air bricks, automatic garage doors and control systems will help to reduce the amount that you pay on your home insurance. Their team have several years of experience surveying and fitting a wide range of products (some exclusive) across the United Kingdom to help homeowners and businesses to protect themselves against flooding.

Five Reasons to Protect Your Home | Flood Guard

The list of reasons to protect your home and family from the damage caused by flooding is obviously a colosal one. Flood Guard provide a huge range of flood protection products at a great price. Yet, there are so many homes across the UK that are at risk of flooding and aren't protected. These points should make you want to go out and buy Flood Guard Equpitment right away.

  1. Money. Although you have to pay to protect your home from flooding, the price that you will have to pay to repair the damage on things such as you're flooring, furniture and electricals is a far worse option!
  2. Protect your loved ones. Although it may seem morbid to talk about, it is the unpleasant truth. Flooding can cause injuries and has even been known to take the lives of some pets due to poor flood protection. Flood protection in your home takes away the risk of flooding causing any damage to your loved ones.
  3. Time. After a flood, the damage left behind can and will take months or even years to be repaired. Many homes need new flooring and wallpapering throughout the entire house. Along side flooding leaving behind things such as damp and mould.
  4. Moving on. Flooding in your home can cause many different damages such as the damp and mould mentioned earlier. If you're a home owner choosing to move on after a flood, even years later, if this type of damage is left behind it can become extremely difficult to sell your home at a good price. Paying a small price to protect your home could make you money in the future when you're trying to sell!
  5. The consequences of damp and mould. Having damp and mould infecting your home can lead to you and your family members becoming ill in the future. This can be very dangerous, especially for those with young children around. Not only that, but having an infestation in the home which could make you ill could begin to affect your work life too.

Protecting Your Vehicles From Flood Damage | Flood Guard

Unfortunately, something that your car insurance does not cover is Flood Damage. RACQ advise that if your vehicle has been affected by floods (water reaching the height of the bottom of the doors) that you do not drive until you have had a full service to assure your safety.

However, something you can do, is protect your car from ever being damaged by flooding. Here at Flood Guard, we offer an Automatic Door Sealing System on your garage, specifically designed to protect your home or vehicle from the damage caused by floods.

Protect your vehicle against flood water at up to 1 metre in height for prolonged periods of time. Your garage is a really important part of your home to protect. Although this may not apply to everyone, many people keep many expensive pieces of equipment in the garage such as lawn mowers, bikes and power tools. The cost to replace all of these items after flood damage would be extremely excessive, that's before even taking any cars, motorbikes etc. into consideration.

People who are affected by floods pay on average at least £8,000 to fix all the damage left behind. This price is usually put together before the cost of replacing any damaged goods if you don't have home insurance. However, not even all home insurance policies cover many of the damages caused by floods.

Make sure your home is protected. If you feel your home may be at risk of flooding, contact us today, or visit http://www.floodguarduk.co.uk/

Flood protection | Flood Guard Uk

Flood Protection
Are you prepared for a typical British Summer? A typical Summer mainly consists of heavy rain fall and little sun shine, which means that floods are much more likely to occur. In the last few years Britain has experienced many flash floods in allot of areas as counter-urbanisation has led to an increase in impermeable surfaces such as tarmac, which in tern leads to more surface runoff. This combined with global warming has led to the increase of flash floods in flood plains, which has devastated many people in recent years. Flood Guard UK have 14 years of experience providing a range of flood protection systems to clients located across the United Kingdom. Whether your establishment is a big or small, commercial or residential they offer a diverse selection of products that are made bespoke to your requirements. Study concludes that climate change will boost flash floods....

The threat of global warming can potentially cause the risk of flash flooding to increase five times according the Met Office - bringing incredibly severe floods to the United Kingdom throughout the summer months.  The study concluded that, although dryer overall, the summer months have the potential to bring with them more intense downfalls - this is an issue because once too much rain falls within a short period of time the risk of flash floods increases significantly.

Flood protection in the United Kingdom

With this in mind, can you risk to let either your home or business establishment vulnerable to such a realistic risk?

At Floodguard UK, they specialise in providing a wide array of flood protection services to both commercial and residential customers throughout the United Kingdom.
