Effective Meeting Skills - Courtney Associates

Not all meetings are easy to concentrate in or easy to engage people in. Courtney Associates run a course for In House training to turn "boring meetings into effective meetings". Their Effective Meetings Course is aimed at managers and team leaders who are involved in leading, chairing, organising and managing meetings.

There are many programme topics that are covered in this one day course including:
  • The component parts of an effective meeting
  • The “roles” participants can take on at meetings
  • Managing group behaviours and group dynamics
  • Managing dysfunctional behaviour at meetings
All these topics will help you to gain the skills needed to engage those in your meetings more and have them leave thinking "that meeting was useful" rather than "what a waste of time".

There are 4 parts to this course, with topics within them, some of which are included below to give you an idea of what is included.
  • Introduction to the Field of Meetings
    • The purposes of Meetings
    • Formal and informal Meetings
  • Planning and Structuring Effective Meetings
    • An opportunity for participants to understand the key elements of planning and
structuring any formal / informal Meeting. The session would also consider how this
theory applies to the specific Meetings participants’ chair.
  • Leading Meetings Effectively
    • The role of the Chairperson
    • The skills of leading Meetings
    • The skills of Facilitation
    • Turning a “group” into a cohesive working team
  • Skills Practice
    • There would be an opportunity for participants to practice many of the skills, tools and techniques discussed by way of some simulated “Meetings” exercises and to receive feedback on their performance.
The cost of their training includes everything in the diagram below plus a free initial face to face consultation meeting to determine your specific requirements.
