Stay Safe over the Festive Period | Pass Point

An article from the NHS stated that over 80,000 Brits per year are injured through  things such as cuts, falls and burns during the festive period. It's important that when accidents happen, you are aware of both what to do and have the supplies to deal with any situation.

During the Christmas period, it is likely that your home will be filled by your loved ones, friends, family members and children. With all the excitement and stress (and perhaps a touch of alcohol) it is more likely at this time more than ever for an accident to happen.

A member of the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RSPoA) stated that their message is to make your home as safe as is necessary over the festive period. "With a little more care and planning, most accidents can be avoided." Pass Point couldn't agree more. Sheila Merrill, the home safety manager for RSPoA says "We want to help people prevent their festivities being cut short by a trip to A&E," and we're here to help!

No one wants to put a dampener on the festivities by covering your home with bubble wrap, but it's important to have at least one family member who is aware with how to deal with accidents which are much more likely to occur during this time. Pass point offer courses such as Emergency First Aid, Paediatric First Aid and basic health and safety, so you are able to protect your whole family, not just over Christmas, but at any time of the year.

Pass Point also offer a huge range of First Aid supplies, from hot and cold treatments to bandages and dressings, even the full kit! If you are unfortunate enough to get a cut or a burn while you're making your Christmas dinner, you're in good hands, with the best quality first aid supplies and perhaps even a fully trained family member!

Whether you want to get your First Aid Kit or to Check Out The Calendar, visit the website today! Stay safe, trust Pass Point.

Why first aid training is important | Pass Point

Some people may feel that learning first aid skills is unimportant because the probability of a workplace injury is much less likely to happen because of the the strict rules and regulations that are in place these days. But having this knowledge at your disposal is vital for potentially saving lives if disaster strikes your office or factory - you can never be too careful especially when it comes to the well-being of your employees. We've listed some of the reasons why obtaining first aid skills is vital for people within the workplace:

1) To help your friends AND you family. If you're spending your day at work from 9-5, then a large amount of your time will be spend with your co-workers - therefore it's natural that you will want to make sure that you will be able to take care of them if an accident happens. What's even more useful, is that you'll be able to transfer these skills to help your family members, as many of the things that you'll learn are versatile and appropriate in a wide selection of different situations. As well as first aid in the workplace courses, there also exists paediatric first aid training that is specifically suited for the younger ones. This is especially useful if they're part of a Sunday league football team and you want to be able to take care of injuries.

2) It can benefit your career. In the competitive job industry, it matters more than ever to have something to make you stand out from the crowd. Having an extra qualification on your CV is sure to give you the advantage, and there are many jobs out there that specifically require you to have some sort of health and safety qualification. None more so than perhaps those in the food industry, if you're an aspiring chef you can be sure that your prospects will be much better if you have proof of your knowledge of the necessary food hygiene skills.

3) Confidence building. Some first aid courses, especially three day ones may be a bit challenging for some people. This is because you learn life saving abilities that can last a lifetime. The sense of achievement that you'll feel when you eventually get your qualification will give you confidence in your own abilities.

4) Learning even the basics can be life saving. Sometimes people are able to provide injured victims with care until professional help arrives. In many cases the first few moments after an accident are the most important, and there will be no help available for a better of minutes. Therefore the injured person may very often have to rely on the help of citizens that are near the scene of the accident.

5) Peace of mind. When you know that you can help those in need, you'll be able relax in the knowledge that you have the ability to save a life.

Pass Point provide first aid training and heath & safety courses, visit their site today to find out more and book yourself a course.
