Reach Forklift Training from IJ Training

The Reach Forklift training course aims to provide the participant with the knowledge and skill required to ensure tasks are performed to the highest level.

The Reach Forklift training courses usually lasts between 1-5 days depending upon the requirements of the trainee. This time is used to develop essential skills such as company machine operation, health and safety, and accepted good practice.

Throughout the course the participant will take part in practical demonstrations and exercises, as well as learning theory lessons to ensure they have full understanding of the equipment they are being trained to use. 

The Reach Forklift training covers basic knowledge and practical skills involved in operating the Reach forklift.

• Managing pre- shift checks before commencing any task
• Stacking and de-stacking
• Manoeuvring around obstacles, reversing, etc safely
• Loading and unloading in a safe manner.

Efficiency equals profits; IJ Training on the benefits of Drivers and Company, Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (DCPC)

"It is not to teach the driver how to drive, that’s what driving schools are for. It can however reaffirm proper driving techniques, thus creating greater efficiency and thus equal greater profits." That was the firm statement from Ian Jenkins, founder of IJ Training. With a wide range of instructors whom all have several years experience of training in the work place, the company specialises in full accredited training courses across a broad spectrum of industries, to suit all level of experience. 

However despite being designed to improve road safety and continuing development, general criticism has brewed throughout the industry since its implementation in 2009, over the usefulness and value of the Driver CPC course, with some companies branding it a 'money making scheme' as all commercial LAW drivers need it in addition to their vocational licence.
We asked IJ Training founder to elaborate why he believes his training is so valuable and important.

Firstly, training occurs on the client's site -explained Ian- so that staff feel comfortable in an atmosphere they are used to but more importantly, so that they're training on the actual equipment they are going to be operating in the exact workplace they're going to be located in.

It was clear to us that IJ Training has a vast range of experience across many industries, and so could talk with confidence on the issue of the DCPC...

Ian explained; "The whole purpose of Driver Certificate of Professional Competence is to reaffirm proper driving techniques, It is not to teach the driver how to drive, that’s what driving schools are for. However it does improve fuel efficiency, reduce accidents and downtime of vehicles, therefore making companies more efficient and more profitable."

It was clear to us, that drivers and companies should look on the DCPC as a means to enhance existing skills and learn new skills to the benefit of both drivers and the company.

All of IJ Training instructors are fully qualified and accredited in the courses that they cover. As mentioned earlier, training is done on your site, allowing you to have your staff trained on the equipment they are going to operate; in the area they are going to operate it. All of their FLT, Plant, MHE courses are fully accredited and approved to ITSSAR standards. In addition, their Dangerous Goods Awareness courses are presented by SQA approved ADR instructors.
