3 piece hair extensions are currently all the rage, which is why here at KoKo we simply couldn't help ourselves but to get some in stock. Three piece extensions can benefit you and your hair for a variety of reasons. The first being, having different sections to the hair allows you to create layers, which gives you a much more natural look & feel. Having three sections to your extensions also gives you more choice when it comes to length too, you can choose to place the lowest weft right at the nape of your neck, or you can choose to place it further up for a shorter look. Personally I adore the glamour that comes with 22" curled extensions that fall right to the bottom of your back!

The extensions come in three wefts. The first is made up of 5 clips, the second is made up of 4 and the third is made up of 3. To put in your extensions, simply part your hair into four rows, placing your extensions in these different sections is going to help you to create the layered affect like you see in the photos, no matter how long or short your hair is.

Place the smallest weft (row of three) in the section closest to the nape of your neck. Take any of your natural hair from underneath this and pin it, hidden away under your extensions. This helps to create a more natural look, as you wouldn't have your shortest layer here with your natural hair.

Take the next weft (row of four) and slide and close the clips above the next layer of hair, make sure this is an inch or more above the first row you clipped in. The gap between the sections can be altered to your preference depending on how far apart you choose to have your layers. I would base the gaps between sections on how short your hair is, for shorter hair, I would choose larger gaps, as this will make your layers appear much more 'choppy', rather than several longer layers and one very short layer on top.

The final weft (row of five) needs to be placed furthest toward the top of your head. Make sure a layer of hair thick enough to hide all your clips is placed over the top. The gap between this section and the section before it needs to be slightly larger (around 2 inches) as this will help to create a more layered and natural look.

Let your hair fall over the top, add a few curls to help blend your hair with the extensions, and there you have it. Beautiful, natural looking, 22" hair.

Tips for Fitting Your Clip-in Extensions | Koko Couture

When it's your first time wearing extensions, it can be difficult to work out on your own what to do with them; so here are a few pointers.

   The most important thing to consider if you're thinking of getting extensions, make sure your hair has some layers cut into it first. Then you can clip the extensions underneath each layer, which creates a much more natural look. 

If your hair has no layers and a blunt cut, it becomes much more difficult to blend the extensions in. Even if your hair is the exact same colour as your hair piece, it will still be extremely obvious you are wearing extensions.

Another good tip for if you have particularly short hair:

 On the bottom layer of your own hair, twist it and clip it out of the way and clip your extensions in over the top (this only works if you're wearing your hair down).

 Another great tip to avoid having visually shorter pieces of hair showing, is to clip your bottom layer of extensions backwards under your last layer of hair. As complex as this sounds, it's really simple - rather than clipping the extensions against your head, clip them into your hair (facing outwards).

 Personally, I tend to buy my extensions a few inches longer than the length I actually want my hair and take them with me to the hairdressers. Having your extensions cut into your hair creates a gorgeous, natural blend.

 Everyone's hair and face shape is different, so the way you fit your extensions will be slightly different too. Most qualified hair dressers will know what's best for you! Taking your extensions to the hairdressers can also give you some peace of mind that your hair and the extensions will also match in colour. 

 A really good tip for people with thicker hair: 

A problem I find is if I get thick extensions, my neck begins to ache and my hair feels really heavy, as my hair is already thick. I tend to buy either a thick half head or a thinner full head. This can give me a bit of difficulty on some days such as the day of/after washing my hair, when my hair is extra thick. The extensions appear thinner than ever and I feel as if it is really obvious that the hair is not mine. A simple solution? Curl your extensions! Even if you don't have time to do your full head, curling the extensions will give them a lot of lift and volume and blend them back into your hair.
