ESOS Assessment deadline is looming fast!

ESOS Assessments are mandatory energy assessments that help large businesses cut down on the amount of pollution that they emit as a result of their day to day work. However, despite the fact that ESOS Assessments are extremely important and will incur a fine should you ignore them - there is large proportion of business that either haven't had the survey done or are completely unaware of it.

The deadline for an ESOS Assessment: 5th December THIS YEAR

The steps involved in an ESOS Assessment involves the appointment of a lead assessor who will look at the audits of energy that you are using. They will then suggest alternatives that will help you to run your business but whilst emitting much less energy, helping both the environment as well as your wallet as the changes will reduce the costs that you're spending every day.

You only have to worry about an ESOS Assessment if your business is defined as a large undertaking:

  • If your company employs over 250 people, or/and:
  • Employs less that 250 people but has an annual turnover of funds in excess of €50 million (£38,937,777)

99% of businesses are STILL not ESOS compliant despite deadline looming....

Did you know that only 1% of companies that need an ESOS assessment have had it done? A tiny fraction of people have submitted their audits ahead of the deadline on the 5th December THIS YEAR.

This is a large problem, as these companies require a lead assessor to take out an ESOS assessment in order to both avoid a large fine and to benefit the environment. These assessments are very important at since they pinpoint the exact ways in which a business is generating too much energy - then money and energy saving alternatives are suggested for the benefit of everyone. The problem may lie in the fact that companies are simply not aware of such a deadline, or whether they are eligible for it - the ESOS Assessments website luckily details all the information that you need in order to get the problem looked as soon.

Firstly, if as of the 31st December 2014 your company has either/and employed over 250 people or has an annual turnover of £50 million then you're defined as a large undertaking and must therefore partake within the survey by appointing a lead assessor.

ESOS Assessments UK can carry this out for you, their trained and experienced team has experience not just in ESOS Assessments but also other energy surveys that they've been carrying out for several years with lots of high profile clients and companies such as Aston Martin, NHS and National Rail.

Less than 1% Compliance for ESOS | ESOS Assessments

A shocking >1% of firms that, by law, need to complete their ESOS Assessment have completed it so far. With only 84 days to go until the deadline, any firms that are yet to comply are walking on very thin ice and are looking to face a large fine.

It can take an assessor up to three months to complete the assessment and with less than three months left until the deadline, leaving your assessment until now is a very big risk. Only 152 of over 150,000 firms have complied so far, if your firm is not a part of this extremely small percentage, it is important that you contact us as soon as possible.

If you do not comply to the deadline, you could be facing a fine of up to £50,000 depending on the size of your business, plus an extra £500 per day for each outstanding day. With Christmas right around the corner, no one wants to be paying out a fine this large. Although you have to pay for your assessment, the price of the fine makes the assessment look like nothing.

You have until the 5th of December this year to comply with your ESOS Assessment deadline. These Assessments only come around once a year, so get yours out of the way today. Contact Esos Assessments now, don't face a fine. If your firm employs over 250 people and/or has an annual turnover of £38,937,777 or more, contact us. http://www.esosassessmentsuk.com

5 Reasons to Arrange Your ESOS Assessment

ESOS Assessments are not always something we look forward to. But they have to be done. Here are five reasons why you should get yours out of the way sooner rather than later.

1. Protect yourself from stress - the closer we come to the deadline, the more panicked we become about arranging our assessment - what if it's too late? What if I can't book an appointment? What if it slips my mind? What if I have the wrong deadline? Get it out of the way and you can go back to focusing on the rest of your work!

2. You could face a large fine - What  makes this one worse is it's just before Christmas. Even if the money isn't coming directly out of your pocket, it puts the company at a loss. There's a good chance that facing the ESOS fine could lead to you kissing goodbye to any Christmas parties or bonuses.

3. You can get excited for Christmas! It may seem like it's really far off, but the sooner you get your ESOS Assessment out of the way you can cut the ESOS countdown and start counting how many Fridays until Christmas!

4. Make yourself look good - If you're not in a high position in your job but you're in charge of organising the assessment, getting it done months before the deadline is likely to make you look super efficient. Take the initiative  and arrange your ESOS Assessment!

5. They only come around every 4 years! Getting it out of the way soon will give you so much more time to do other things and stay focused on the rest of your work.

Don't lose sleep over your ESOS Assessment, don't face a fine. Arrange yours today.

Remember December 5th 2015!

This date may not mean alot to everyone, but for those who own businesses that employ over 250 people - this date is an essential thing to have in your calendar if you want to save money and not face a hefty fine.

The aim of an ESOS Assessment is to identify the areas in which buildings are consuming large amounts of energy; by identifying cost effective solutions you'll be able to limit the amount of harm that you cause to the environment. In order to carry out this assessment you'll need to appoint a LEAD ASSESSOR who will take care of this for you - you'll then need to inform the relevant environmental agency of your compliance.
